A look back: Feb. 18, 1992
The Foundation for Progressive Living Inc., Lehighton, recently received a $5,000 grant from the Horsehead Community Development Fund, which was used to purchase a vehicle for the program.
The foundation is a private, nonprofit agency that offers residential services to mentally challenged citizens, having five group homes, two in Lehighton and one in Nesquehoning, Weatherly and Lansford.
Cindy Smith, program director, said the funds were used to purchase a minivan that will be utilized to provide transportation for the program. “We never could have bought it without the help of the Horsehead Community Development Fund,” she said.
