Liquor and wine sales in Carbon County state liquor stores last year climbed 0.331 percent over the previous year’s totals. The State Liquor Control Board said sales in the county stores totaled $1,018,733.29.

Interestingly, Carbon County is ranked 37th of the 67 counties in the volume of alcoholic beverages sold.

As for sales of wine and liquors by state stores locally, the Palmerton store topped the county at $245,081.14, followed by Lehighton, $243,899.06; Lansford, $213,681.54; Summit Hill, $96,488.17; Jim Thorpe, $86,661.45; Nesquehoning, $84,034.19; and Weatherly, $48,877.74.

The LCB said the average sales by stores in the county averaged $145,533.33.
