A look back: Feb. 6, 1995
The West Penn Township Board of Supervisors last night declined to appoint Charles S. Snyder as chairman of the vacancy board.
Chairman Tim Houser cited requirements that any person holding elective or appointive office cannot do more than $300 in annual business with that municipality. Snyder is the president of Charles S. Snyder Inc., which exceeds that limit.
The chairman of the vacancy board sits only in the event of a vacancy on the board of supervisors and only until someone is named to fill the vacant position.
Snyder withdrew his name and Clarence Alles volunteered. There being no other volunteers, Alles was appointed.
