A look back: Feb. 8, 2002

Warner and Sandy Benson are headed to the Olympics.

The Palmerton couple will be leaving this weekend for Salt Lake City, Utah, courtesy of Gateway. Warner is employed at the Gateway store in Whitehall and through Gateway’s “Circle of Excellence” program won a four-day trip for two to the Olympic Games.

The couple will have tickets to five events while they are in Salt Lake City, although they haven’t been informed yet what event they will be seeing. They expect they will be taking in ski jumping and hockey, which are slated in the first week of competition when they will be there.

“It’s kind of a homecoming,” Warner said, who lived in Wyoming for 10 years, during which time he visited Salt Lake City.
