A look back: Jan. 23, 1980

Thomas H. Newbern, president of the Miners National Bank of Pottsville, has announced the appointment of two new directors.

Arlin G. Hill of West Penn Township will fill the seat vacated when James R. Bazley Jr. resigned, and Vincent C. Miller of Auburn will fill a vacancy created on the board by the death of John G. Callender.

Hill is a licensed public accountant and manager of the Wittig Accounting Service since 1958, and the secretary-treasurer of Sue Frocks Inc., and the West Penn Township Board.

Miller is the owner and president of C.H. Klinger Inc., General Contractors.
