A look back: Jan. 29, 1998
It was an honor long overdue. At last night’s regular meeting of the Palmerton Borough Council, President John D. Neff presented Palmerton Fire Chief Christopher Kegel with a plaque commemorating council’s approval of Resolution 272-98.
The resolution officials recognized Kegel’s service to the community as a member of Palmerton Fire Company No. 1.
He joined it in 1966, became a lieutenant in 1970, served as assistant fire chief from 1977-91 and has served as the fire chief since 1992.
The resolution called for Kegel to “be recognized and applauded for his over 30 years of commitment to the fire service and to the Borough of Palmerton.”
