A look back: Jan. 3, 1986
Successful political candidates in last November’s general election were officially sworn into office Thursday during ceremonies opening the 1986 session of the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.
President Judge John P. Lavelle presided and administered the oath of office to six county officeholders.
They included Jeanette Scapura, clerk of courts; Margaret O’Donnell, register of wills; Paul Hadzick, district justice; Gilbert Gerhard, treasurer; and Jeanette Coury and Willard Hill, jury commissioners.
Also sworn in was Frances Cannariato, who will be the acting prothonotary in light of the retirement earlier this week of Joseph Modrick.
