A look back: January 19, 1981
The office of Carbon County Controller John R. Williams in the courthouse, Jim Thorpe, has added another sophisticated unit of equipment to its computerized system.
An NCR — 7200 Terminal Input Data Station has been installed there and will be utilized to encode data on tapes, which are then processed through the county’s computer.
The terminal permits an operator to do encoding offline from the computer for better efficiency. It also maximizes the use of the computer. Use of the terminal will allow the county to process an increasing amount of work on the previously installed computer unit.
