A look back: January 22, 1962

Top officials of Lansford, Coaldale and Summit Hill met in special session yesterday in an effort to curb speeding violations, the providing of alcoholic beverages to youth of the three towns, and air other mutual problems.

In attendance were George Demetriades, mayor of Lansford; Joseph Macenka, president of Lansford Borough Council; Joseph Sharpe, mayor of Coaldale; James Melley, president of Coaldale Borough Council; Louis Lisella, mayor of Summit Hill; and Francis Lawton, president of Summit Hill Borough Council.

The group pledged full cooperation in an effort to stamp out the violations in their communities.
