A look back: January 8, 1972
Four area men are among 187 cadets who will graduate from the 30th State Police Class during graduation Wednesday at the Milton Hershey School. This is the largest class to graduate from the academy.
The area cadets and their assignments are Eugene V. Bonner, Nesquehoning, Troop L, Reading, and Thomas M. Durilla and Donald W. Guy, both of Tamaqua, and Michael F. Ouly, Coaldale, all Troop M in Bethlehem.
The six-month training provided instruction in all phases of police work. In addition, instructors from Penn State University taught courses in sociology, psychology, speech and English composition.
Frank J. Blewitt, president of the PA Newspaper Publishers Association, will offer the graduation address.
