A look back: July 10, 1990
All 3.25 million shares of Horsehead Resource Development Co. common stock sold at $14.50 per share, marking the first time shares of a Horsehead Industries company were offered to the general public.
Generating more than $47 million for the company, the shares were bought by a number of investment group and others, according to Kidder, Peabody and Co., who, along with Alex, Brown & Sons, are the New York-based underwriters for the sale.
The newly offered shares make up 10 percent of HRD’s total ownership. Both parent company Horsehead Industries and German industrial concern B.U.S. now own 45 percent of the hazardous waste handler.
