A look back: July 18, 1969

Edward C. Kennedy of Summit Hill was elected Eastern Vice Commander of the American Legion in Pennsylvania at the state conference held in Pittsburgh today.

Kennedy, past commander of the 30th District of the Legion and a past commander of American Legion Post 316 in his hometown, is a veteran of the China-Burma-India and North African theaters of operations during World War II.

He presently serves as president of the home association in Summit Hill and as adjutant of the Carbon County American Legion.

He and his wife, the former Mary Vorsteg, are the parents of six children.
