Mahlon M. Moyer, White Street, on Saturday afternoon announced his retirement as superintendent of the Weissport Post Office. Moyer served as postmaster of Weissport from April 15, 1951, to December 1955, when the office became a branch of the Lehighton Office. Since that time, he has served as superintendent of the Weissport branch.

Moyer, 68, was born in Weissport, a son of the late Oliver and Lydia C. (Greenzweig) Moyer. He graduated from Weissport High School in 1913.

During his working career, he served with the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company; was an insurance agent for the Lutheran Church Brotherhood; a junior cost accountant for the state; and a census enumerator for Carbon County.
