A look back: July 23, 1957
Sgt. Frank J. Cannon of Summit Hill, four-time Pennsylvania State Police pistol champion, was honored by fellow members of the O’Rourke Memorial Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, at a testimonial dinner last night at the American Legion Home, Hazleton.
The guest of honor received a revolver from his fellow police officers, presented by Sgt. Donald Unger, state police fire marshal, who said Cannon’s repeated achievements as a marksman are exceeded only by “his fine character as a citizen and law enforcement officer.”
Remarks were made by state Sen. William Z. Scott, Sgt. Joseph McIlvaine, John Bonner and Capt. Lawrence Sapudar, commanding officer of the Hazleton detail.
