Construction costs to prepare quarters for Carbon County’s second judge, as well as to renovate other courthouse and courthouse annex areas for county offices, will cost in excess of $200,000.

George T. Schmidt, 557 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, was the apparent low bidder for the work on Wednesday when the Carbon County Board of Commissioners received eight proposals for the construction.

Included in the work is changing the third-floor meeting room in the courthouse to courtroom No. 2 for the new judge and relocation of the Domestic Relations, Recorder of Deeds, Area Agency on Aging and Adult Probation offices.
