A look back: June 19, 1970
Some 15 former teachers and educators attended a luncheon program yesterday honoring Lawrence B. Morris, retiring supervising principal of the Jim Thorpe Area School District.
R. Newton Davenport, superintendent of Carbon County Schools, served as toastmaster and introduced Francis Dolan, former superintendent of the Panther Valley School District, who presented Morris a gift on behalf of the educators.
Among the guests who attended the event at the Lansford Edgemont Lodge was Dr. Edward Grissinger, newly named superintendent of Jim Thorpe Schools, and Stuart Prutzman, former county superintendent of schools.
