A look back: June 5, 1972
Sister M. Methodia, a petite missionary sister with a radiant smile and a personality to match, was honored by the parishioners of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Lansford, yesterday as she marked her 60th anniversary as a nun in the Order of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
More than 600 parishioners, nuns, clergy, local and state government officials gathered for a Jubilee Mass in the parish church to pay tribute to the sister who has taught in the parish school for the past 59 years.
Monsignor Joseph Baran, pastor, celebrated the Mass, assisted by the Rev. Mark Manzak, a parish son now serving as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force.
