A look back: March 11, 1980
Joseph A. “Buck” O’Donnell, whose community involvement spans three generations, has been named Summit Hill’s “Citizen of the Year” by the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization.
Mrs. Sonja Miller, who heads the award committee, noted “Joe Buck” served on the original Summit Hill Town Improvement Committee in the 1920s and has continued to serve the community since.
O’Donnell’s major role has been as a Panther Valley historian, as he is frequently consulted by people tracing their family histories, who often find that “Joe Buck” knows more about their ancestors than they do. “He is keeping Summit Hill history alive,” Mrs. Miller said.
