A look back: May 21, 1967
Sister Mary Eleanor was pleasantly surprised during a farewell testimonial dinner held last night in St. Joseph’s auditorium, Summit Hill. The sister, who accepted a position at St. Joseph’s Parochial School six years ago, will be leaving there this summer upon receiving a new assignment from the Sisters of Mercy.
Monsignor J. Francis Haley was the main speaker while Joseph O’Donnell was the master of ceremonies. The event was hosted by the Guild of Catholic Women. Officers include Edith Bohovich, president; Mary Kennedy, vice president; Barbara DiMattia, secretary; Margaret Crampsie, treasurer; and Elsie Tonon, sergeant-at-arms.
Sister Eleanor expressed her gratitude to the 175 people who gathered to pay her tribute.
