A look back: May 24, 1989

Ronald H. Gallagher, a full-time member of the Kidder Township police force since 1975, was appointed police chief last night by the board of supervisors.

Gallagher, 48, who is the department’s sergeant, has been acting chief since Richard Lignore resigned on April 28. His appointment as chief is for a probationary period of one year.

The supervisors also promoted officer Timothy Crisante to full-time status and approved the advertising for two more full-time officers. The department currently has four patrol cars staffed by four full-time officers.

Gallagher lives in Albrightsville with his wife and two daughters. He will be paid a rate of $13 per hour.
