A look back: Nov. 11, 1970
Members of the Palmerton Ministerium met in the First United Church of Christ in town where J.A. Marvin, representative of the New Jersey Zinc Company, was on hand to present the Palmerton Area Kidney Fund a check for $2,539.83.
The check brought the fund total to date to $14,825.92. Of this amount, $3,308.35 was used for expenditures that included a kidney machine, water softener, labor and plumbing. The machine is housed in a room in the old Palmerton Hospital and is available to any person within practical traveling distance of Palmerton.
One to four patients can be scheduled to use the machine. A committee of the ministerium will continue to accept donations toward the lifesaving facilities.
