A look back: Nov. 12, 1974
The Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe, founded by Milton Dimmick, this year is marking its 85th anniversary as an educational and cultural center in the community.
Recognizing its great educational value, the Jim Thorpe Area Board of Education last night presented a $3,000 check to the library, the presentation having been made by director Thomas Martino, chairman of the board’s finance committee, to Charles D. Neast and L.B. Morris, library trustees.
School board president Charles A. Rhoads joined Martino in making the presentation.
Neast pointed out Dimmick left a great legacy to the community, considering he was only 36 years of age when he died.
