A look back: Nov. 16, 1968
High tribute was paid to the Carbon County School Board and officials during a testimonial dinner held last evening at the Mahoning Valley Country Club. More than 10 members of the Carbon County Teachers Association attended the affair.
Sen. Fred Hobbs, guest speaker, told the school directors, “I think you have the finest county system in the commonwealth.”
Honored guests included Edgar Smith of Jim Thorpe, board president; Paul Sheers of Coaldale, vice president; Anthony Wargo of Coaldale, secretary; H.G. Sensinger of Mahoning Valley, treasurer; and Ellen Christman of Lehighton R.D.
