The Farmers Home Administration approved a loan to the Weissport Municipal Authority for $359,200 to help finance a sewer collection system for the 190 residential and commercial establishments in the borough.
Authority Chairman George Schoenberger explained the $709,932 project will be done in two phases, the first one including a new pumping station and 12-inch interceptor line to be installed to carry the sewage from Franklin Township. The pumping station will power material through a line under the Lehigh River to the Lehighton sewage treatment plant.
In the second phase, a total of 4,490 lineal feet of 8-inch collector lines will also be installed through the borough.
