A look back: Nov. 29, 1983
George Taylor, a teacher in the Tamaqua Area High School and adviser to the Blue and White school newspaper there, has been selected as one of the four distinguished advisers in the 1983 teacher awards competition sponsored by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Inc.
Taylor has taught English and journalism at Tamaqua since 1982, having started the journalism program there.
Under Taylor’s guidance, the Blue and White is published eight times during the school year and has been a consistent winner of the highest state and national awards, including the prestigious Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
