A look back: November 16, 1952

The Bright Company of Lansford has purchased the Cohen Department Store in Lehighton. Announcement of the purchase was made by Bright officials in a conference in the executive offices of the firm this morning.

The sale, merging two of the greatest retail establishments in Pennsylvania, makes the Bright firm the largest organization in that field in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania.

Overseeing the transition will be Richard Edwards, president and general manager of the Bright firm; George Bright, vice president; Rodman Morgan, secretary-treasurer; and Paul Pavlick, assistant general manager. Joseph Mantz, who managed Cohen’s, will continue to serve in that capacity.
