A LOOK BACK NOVEMBER 18, 1975
Dr. William J. Bartholomew surprised members of the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit board last night, announcing his retirement as executive director. The board, headed by President Ronald Skinner, “regretfully” accepted the retirement, effective June 30, 1976.
The 59-year-old executive, who resides in Emmaus, was named to the post on July 1, 1971.
Bartholomew, who worked in the education field for 40 years, was the administrative head of the Lehigh County unit before his appointment to the new bicounty unit in 1971, and had been county superintendent since 1966. Previously, he was the assistant county superintendent for 11 years.
