A look back: November 29, 1983
The infamous South Tamaqua intersection, where numerous traffic crashes have taken place, is now being revised by Pennsylvania Department of Transporation workers.
The left turn lane in the northbound traffic pattern is being relocated and the intersection is being made safer for motorists.
Already the reflecting concrete medians have been taken out and filled with asphalt. Sometime this week, a new traffic pattern will be painted onto the road surface.
PennDOT officials say it is now up to West Penn Township to install night lights or a flashing warning light at the location.
