A look back: November 8, 1973
Monsignor Agnello Angelini, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning, awarded $25 savings bonds to the first newborn girl and boy at the recently dedicated Coaldale State General Hospital.
Attired in protective surgeon’s garb, he expressed his congratulations to the new mothers in the maternity section. The first child delivered was a baby girl brought into the world by Dr. Richard E. Miller, chief of obstetrics, to Mrs. Robert Moser, Tamaqua R.3, and the first baby boy born at the new facility was delivered by Dr. Narciso Bauzon, a Hometown physician, to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kovalchick, Tamaqua R.1.
