Carbon County charities will receive approximately $15,000, according to an announcement of the Carbon County Medical Society made last night. President Dr. Joseph Dougherty of Coaldale said the money is left over from the highly successful Oral Polio Sabin Program, which established a record in Carbon County a few months ago.

The program, aimed to stamp out polio in the county, was a volunteer effort. At the time, those receiving the three doses of the vaccine were requested to make a contribution of 25 cents per dose. Those who could not afford the vaccine received it free.

The county program was directed by Dr. E. Stanley Cope of Palmerton, who said $15,000 was left over after expenses of the program were paid.
