A look back: Oct. 14, 2011
Contributions continue to pour in for a veterans memorial slated to be erected in Palmerton next year.
The most recent donation came in the form of a robust $7,500 check from the Palmerton Hungarian Club donated to the Palmerton United Veterans Organization.
To date, $88,000 of the expected $123,000 cost has been raised.
The Palmerton UVO and the borough plan to build the memorial to honor all of the Palmerton area service men and women as a tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and to those who served to preserve our freedom. It will be located on a section of land 35 feet by 40 feet in size in the lower southwest corner of the borough park and will include all veterans’ names on granite monuments.
