A look back: Oct. 17, 2008
Carbon County officials are moving forward with rehabilitating the covered bridge in Lower Towamensing Township.
The commissioners have authorized Carbon Engineering to prepare cost estimates for the rehabilitation work, which could cost as much as $500,000.
The bridge, which is located in the Little Gap section of the township, crosses over the Buckwa Creek. It was temporarily closed in March after it was learned it was in poor condition, however, the county hired Stoney Ridge Fabricators to weld plates over holes in the deck and to reweld the steel I-beams as a temporary measure of repair work.
