A look back: Oct. 25, 1982
A farewell party was held for Father Francis J. Baransky, assistant pastor of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, Sunday afternoon in St. Jerome’s auditorium with more than 100 parishioners and friends in attendance.
Father Baransky, who has been at the Tamaqua church since June 1981, has been transferred to St. John’s Lithuanian Catholic Church, Coaldale, to replace Father Joseph Shelonis, who has been transferred to St. Francis of Assisi, Minersville, whose pastor, the Rev. John Luksys, is ill.
In addition to assuming the pastorate at St. John’s, Father Baransky will also teach at Marian High School.
