A look back: Oct. 8. 1962

The Rev. H. Oscar Schlessman, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Heights, Jim Thorpe, on Saturday was elected president of the Lehighton Lutheran District during the American Eastern Pennsylvania Synod meeting held at Muhlenberg College, Allentown.

Schlessman replaces the Rev. M. Luther Wahrman of Towamensing.

The Rev. Donald L. Brown, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, was re-elected district secretary.

During the session, the Rev. Dr. Samuel E. Kidd of Norristown was installed as president of the synod, and Dr. Claude E. Schick of Philadelphia and Walter R. Hagey of Lansdale were seated as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
