A mine drainage project in Coaldale, expected to cost $250,000, is one of three projects approved by Secretary of the Interior Fred A. Seaton.

When completed, the remediation project, which will benefit the Coaldale Mining Company, will carry surface water away from caves and stripping pits and over ground affected by subsidence through which it now enters the No. 8 Mine.

The project is expected to reduce company costs and eliminate the danger of flooding that threatens active workings employing more than 1,200 men and containing substantial treasures of anthracite.

Other projects will benefit the Primrose Mine, near Mahanoy City, and the Lehigh Valley Coal Company’s Prospect Mine, near Wilkes-Barre.
