A look back: October 12, 1955

Ethel Theophilus of Nesquehoning was elected a supplemental teacher in the junior high school department of the Jim Thorpe school system last night.

Elected on a temporary basis, she will receive $5,000 a year. She formerly taught at East Mauch Chunk High School.

Filled was the application of Mrs. Clyde Shoop, of this community, now a substitute teacher, for a permanent post.

Lewis Duffy, truant officer, is hospitalized. Kenneth Dunbar, a member of the janitorial staff, was appointed to the post until Duffy returns to duty. The post pays $60 a month.
