A look back: October 14, 1938
New Columbus was the scene of a stabbing affray last evening. The victim is John Sojack. He was stabbed by John Pathroff, his brother-in-law. It happened in front of Sojack’s house. From what could be learned, Pathroff was intoxicated.
Sojack sustained gashes of the forehead, one-half inch long, and on the left arm about four inches. The wounds are not necessarily serious.
Pathroff was arrested and taken before Squire John Morgan for a Hearing. On account of Pathroff’s drunken condition, Squire Morgan committed him to the county jail until he becomes sober, fixing the hearing for 3 p.m. today.
