A look back: Sept. 11, 1985

State Rep. Keith McCall, D-Carbon, is credited with providing an assist to his constituents’ neighbors from Coaldale that has resulted in expediting state funding for a major construction project in Seek.

The Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Co. recently completed the road work on Lower Greenwood and Miner streets that probably still would not have been completed if it weren’t for McCall.

Council President Geno Poli said he contacted his neighboring state representative and funding for the project was released the very next day by the Department of Community Affairs.

“If McCall didn’t help us, we’d still be waiting, and it would have probably been another winter before the DCA money was released,” Poli said.
