A look back: Sept. 12, 1982
Monsignor Agnello J. Angelini was honored at a concelebrated Mass and dinner program yesterday marking his 50th year as pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, New Columbus.
The beloved shepherd of his flock came to the U.S. in 1905 with his parents, the late Joseph and Theresa Angelini. Ordained in 1925, he arrived at the railroad station to become the new pastor at OLOMC seven years later.
On the occasion of his golden anniversary in Nesquehoning, Bishop Joseph McShea told Monsignor Angelini before 380 people at the dinner program held in Our Lady of Grace Hall, Hazleton, “The people will hold up your arms, to help you as you struggle in their midst.”
