A look back: Sept. 28, 1993
The Jim Thorpe Area School Board appointed a new director last night to fill the unexpired term of Bradford Landon, who resigned from the position earlier this month.
Richard Karper of Jim Thorpe was appointed by a 7-0 vote during the board’s regular committee meeting. The term he is filling will expire at the end of November, but Karper may be elected to a four-year term as a director on Nov. 2, as he is one of five candidates running for four positions on the board.
Karper, 45, a Democrat, won on both tickets in the May primary election and received the most votes of any of the candidates in that election.
