Lewis W. Geiger Jr., 251 N. Second St., Lehighton, has been appointed clerk in the Carbon County surplus foods bureau at a salary of $2,300, a year, succeeding Charles Dougherty, Lansford, who resigned recently to assume employment with the Adjutant General’s Department in Harrisburg.
Geiger began his new duties yesterday, his appointment having been made during today’s regular weekly meeting of the County Commissioners in the Court House, Jim Thorpe.
Thomas A. Zimmerman, board chairman, also announced today he will head a delegation of county officials to the Pennsylvania State University campus at University Park on Oct. 11 for the dedication of a new student dormitory to be known as Carbon County Hall.
