Lower Towamensing awards two road contracts
The Lower Towamensing Township supervisors awarded several road work projects to Lehigh Asphalt in Andreas.
The first project involves leveling work on Golf, Spruce and Summer Mountain roads and Boulder Oaks Drive for a total cost of $201,015.19.
The second project involves repair work on LaMontage Drive. The cost for that project is $29,227.92. All work has to be completed by Aug. 31.
Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company Fire Chief William George asked the supervisors when the swings would be installed at the Aquashicola playground.
Some playground equipment has been replaced, but the new swings have not been put up yet, said borough secretary Christine Wentz.
Planning Committee member Angela Farrell said she would look into the status of the swings for the borough.
And in other business, Boy Scout Braden Gower approached the supervisors for approval of his idea for his Eagle Scout project.
Wentz said Gower would like to construct a fire pit in the upper section of the Stoney Ridge Park and Recreation Center. The pit would be in the area of the upper pavilion where the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts usually meet.
According to Gower, the fire pit would be four feet in diameter with a seven foot diameter ring around it. That would be surrounded by a five foot wide ring of mulch.
The supervisors approved the idea, and the borough will contribute $375 toward the cost of the project.
