Mahoning supervisors

Published May 29. 2018 12:17PM

Mahoning supervisors last week approved a reduction of $294,239.20 to Lehighton Kia’s remaining bonds, contingent upon the receipt of a Notice of Termination of Coverage permit from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The decision was recommended by the township’s engineer, Peter Eisenbrown of LTL Consultants.

A formal request for the release of funds by Lehighton Kia owner William Rosado had been discussed during Mahoning’s first meeting in May. In the request, Rosado pointed out that issues of paving and accessibility highlighted by Eisenbrown had been resolved.

At the previous meeting, zoning officer Carl Faust told the board that the developers had yet to receive final approval from the Mahoning Municipal Authority due to a lack of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits.

A follow-up letter to the board members stated that all necessary information had been submitted, and approval was expected in the near future.
