Mahoning Township supervisors

Published April 16. 2018 01:25PM

Mahoning Township supervisors also discussed the following items at their meeting recently.

• The contractors responsible for the Lehighton Kia contacted township engineer Peter Eisenbrown of LTL Consultants for a release of their bond for the project in the amount of $284,000.

According to zoning officer Carl Faust, part of the parking lot on the property must be repaved to meet accessibility requirements.

Nanovic suggested that the contractors, Nu Cor Management of Wind Gap, should pursue the standard course of action by sending Eisenbrown a certified letter noting that they have met necessary requirements in order to release the funds.

• The first public hearing for Community Development Block Grant funding was held at the beginning of the meeting. The township is due to receive $15,220 for administration and $69,336 for project implementation to reconstruct and repave Pine and Douglas Streets.

Funding amounts for the projects are approximate, as CDBG has yet to receive final funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development.
