Man, 71, shot in Polk Twp. home
A 71-year-old man was shot in his Polk Township home Thursday afternoon and the suspect is still on the loose.
State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating the attempted homicide that took place at 3:10 p.m. in Polk Township, where a man was shot by a masked man who demanded money from him.
William Anderson, of 110 Peggy Lane, Kunkletown, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Anderson operates an electrician business out of his home.
In an incident report released this morning, police said an unknown man entered Anderson’s residence, demanded the money and shot him.
Trooper Nicholas DeLaIglesia’s report says the shooting “appears to be an isolated incident.”
According to scanner reports, police issued an alert just before 4 p.m. Thursday, looking for a man who was wearing a black mask, black clothing and driving a black sedan. He was heading toward Route 209.
Near the Polk Township school on Route 209 at the same time a state police car collided with another car and landed in a ditch.
It is not clear if the trooper was pursuing the suspect or heading to the scene.
Police did not indicate whether they know the identity of the suspect in the case.
