Man from Altoona jailed on drug charges

Kenneth Harrell, 30, of Altoona, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, on drug charges following a traffic stop by state police at Fern Ridge on Interstate 80 westbound in Kidder Township.

He was charged with possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and related offenses.

Police said he was stopped for a traffic violation in a 2019 Nissan Altima at 5:38 p.m. Feb. 23, when police saw indicators of criminal activity.

A consent search of the vehicle and operator resulted in the seizure of approximately 53 grams of heroin and 1,200 glassine baggies typically used for packaging.
