A Berks County man has been charged with burglary after he entered a Slatington home and struck a man who was in bed with a bamboo stick.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Michael Concilio of the Slatington Police Department:

At 7:37 a.m. June 30, Concilio was dispatched by Lehigh County radio for a disturbance located in the 300 block of South Walnut Street after Codi Grier, 22, of Boyertown, broke into the home and hit another man with a bat before taking off in a tan pickup.

The victim told Concilio that Grier entered the bedroom door and struck him with a wooden/bamboo stick in the head while in bed with a woman.

The victim saw Grier run out the front door and take off in his vehicle.

Concilio observed a small raised contusion and blood coming from the victim’s forehead near his center hairline. He photographed the injury, but the victim declined EMS.

The woman said she saw Grier enter the bedroom while she was in bed with the victim and struck the victim in the head one time before running out the front door, taking her cellphone with him.

Several people, including Concilio, had told Grier in several past incidents not to come on the premises.

Grier faces charges of burglary; criminal trespass building; theft by unlawful taking or disposition; possessing instrument of crime; simple assault; and harassment.

He is currently incarcerated in Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear Monday for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Jacob E. Hammond in Lehigh County Central Court.
