Man charged with stabbing in Schuylkill
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported the arrest of a Lebanon man for stabbing another person in Schuylkill County.
Troopers said Julio Daniel Lopez-Garay, 20, was charged with aggravated assault and related offenses for an incident that occurred at 11:38 p.m. on Saturday along Route 209 in Porter Township, just east of Tower City borough.
Troopers said the suspect and a 22-year-old man from Sugar Notch, Luzerne County, were back seat passengers in a vehicle traveling southbound when they engaged in a physical altercation. Troopers said Lopez-Garay took a kitchen knife from his pant pocket and stabbed the victim in the chest area above his heart. The victim was transported to the Hershey Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Lopez-Garay was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $50,000 bail. The investigation is continuing, troopers added.
