Man cited after fleeing Route 61 crash

James D. Mickshaw, 46, of Pottsville, is facing charges after he fled the scene of a one-vehicle crash at 6:29 p.m. Dec. 8 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said he was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta south on Route 61 when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. The car traveled about 66 feet through both lanes of travel and struck a concrete barrier. It continued about 100 feet before coming to rest on the east berm.

Police said Mickshaw fled the scene, leaving the vehicle in a blind spot around a curve in the road. Traffic was reduced to one lane of travel until the area could be cleared and the Jetta was towed from the scene.
