Man found squatting in abandoned home faces drug charges
A man found squatting in an abandoned home in Palmerton faces drug charges.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Adam Shimer of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:
On the morning of Oct. 4, Shimer was requested to assist the US Marshals and Pennsylvania State Parole Task Force on Hillside Avenue.
Shimer was advised that a man identified as Edward Zielinski, 50, was in their custody under the authority of an arrest warrant issued by PA State Parole.
Zielinski had been squatting in an abandoned home on Hillside Avenue.
A glass pipe and a clear round container containing a white powdery residue found in the home tested positive for the presence of methamphetamines and/or Ecstasy.
Zielinski faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 straight bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 16 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
